dAIEDGE-VLab has been selected for the “Exploring” phase of the European Commission's Innovation Radar

Our dAIEDGE-VLab is conceived as a distributed and decentralized virtual laboratory designed to run remote experiments on edge devices using Edge AI; and our mission is based on realizing the vision of bringing advanced computing to the network edge, bringing it closer to real-world use cases and making experimentation in Edge AI more accessible, flexible, and closer to production conditions.

dAIEDGE-VLab is not a closed platform, but rather a living experimental environment where research can be tested, validated, and evolved across distributed infrastructures. Currently, at dAIEDGE, we are in the Exploring phase of the European Commission’s Innovation Radar framework, which means we are actively exploring opportunities for value creation. In this phase, we not only refine the technology but also identify use cases, real market needs, and potential adoption pathways.

Achieving this recognition within the Innovation Radar represents a particularly significant milestone for us. It not only validates the innovative potential of dAIEDGE-VLab within the European research and innovation ecosystem, but also confirms the growing importance of distributed experimentation models in artificial intelligence. Being identified and recognized within this European framework provides a strategic boost to continue evolving the platform, expanding its impact, and strengthening our ability to connect cutting-edge research with the real-world needs of society and industry.

From this perspective, our potential for market creation rests on our ability to enable remote experimentation on distributed edge computing infrastructures. This reduces barriers to accessing complex resources and allows researchers and industry to validate artificial intelligence solutions in a more agile, scalable manner that closely mirrors real-world environments. We thus aspire to be not only a technical tool, but also a catalyst for new models of experimentation in distributed systems.

One of our core principles is to eliminate the traditional barriers associated with access to advanced experimental infrastructure. dAIEDGE-VLab was created with an open, distributed, and accessible approach, where anyone, from researchers and students to companies and developers, can interact with edge AI environments without the physical or technical limitations of conventional laboratories. Our goal is to democratize access to experimentation in distributed artificial intelligence, fostering an ecosystem where innovation can flourish collaboratively, remotely, and without borders.

We also recognize the organizational and collaborative dimension that has made this advancement possible. We would like to express our gratitude and congratulations to the Haute École Spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale and the University of Salamanca for their decisive contribution to achieving this milestone. Their work, expertise in applied research, and commitment to technology transfer have been fundamental in shaping this project.

Our development is supported by a consortium with extensive experience in distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and knowledge transfer, which reinforces both our innovative potential and our ability to bridge the gap between research and real-world applications. This combination places us at a pivotal point in the innovation cycle: still in the exploratory phase, but with a solid foundation to evolve toward scenarios of greater technological maturity and adoption.

Our ultimate goal is structural: to redefine how distributed artificial intelligence experimentation labs are conceived, enabling remote, scalable environments that align with real-world deployment conditions at the network edge.
