The stories behind innovation now have a place at dAIEDGE

At dAIEDGE, we believe that innovation is measured not only by the technology we develop, but also by the people and projects that make it possible. That is why we are launching a new section on our website: Meet the Winners, designed to allow anyone interested to discover the winners of the three funding calls launched by our project.

Throughout these three Open Calls, dAIEDGE has selected a total of 26 innovative projects, which are helping to drive the future of artificial intelligence at the Edge in Europe. Thanks to the financial, technical and training support provided by the project, the beneficiaries have been able to develop their proposals during an intensive seven-month programme alongside some of the consortium’s leading experts and organisations.

The new ‘Meet the Winners’ section brings all this information together in one place for the first time. Visitors will be able to easily browse through the winners of the First Open Call, the Second Open Call and the Third Open Call, and find out in detail who they are, what project they have developed and at which consortium institution they carried out their placement.

Each profile includes:

  • The name of the winner or the consortium.
  • The contact details for each winner.
  • Information on the challenge or area of research addressed.
  • The name and description of the project developed.
  • The hosting institution, i.e. the dAIEDGE consortium member where the beneficiary undertook their seven-month training programme.

In this way, ‘Meet the Winners’ not only allows us to see the results of the calls for proposals, but also to put a face to the initiatives that are transforming the European AI at the Edge ecosystem.

During their participation in dAIEDGE, each winner has worked closely with one of the consortium’s host institutions, which include universities, technology centres and internationally renowned organisations. These hosting institutions (CSEM, University of Glasgow, INRIA, Universidad de Módena y Reggio Emilia - UNIMORE, VICOMTECH, Foundation for Research & Technology – FORTH, Centre national de la recherche scientifique - CNRSUniversidad de Castilla-La Mancha, VERSES, Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse occidentale - HES-SO, THALES, CETICGerman Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, SYNOPSYS, Ubotica, Universidad de Salamanca and SAFRAN) have supported the beneficiaries throughout the programme, providing mentoring, technical support and access to infrastructure and specialist knowledge.

The result is a diverse community of researchers, start-ups, SMEs and entrepreneurs who are developing solutions capable of addressing some of the key challenges of distributed artificial intelligence: efficiency, scalability, trust, sustainability and industrial impact.

  • But Meet the Winners will go one step further

We will gradually be adding personal interviews with each of the winners to the dAIEDGE YouTube channel. Through these conversations, the participants will share details of their projects and explain how taking part in and winning these competitions has been a huge milestone for each of them.

These interviews will provide an insight not only into the technology, but also into the stories, motivations and lessons learned behind each initiative.

Find out who is behind the winning projects in “Meet the Winners”, by exploring our industry-academia collaboration network, their publications in the dAIEDGE community on Zenodo, and their upcoming interviews on our YouTube channel.
